Each release will be accompanied by rare live footage, unreleased music, photos, and videos. The reissue serves as the latest entry in Matador Records’ Revisionist History series, our ongoing campaign to jog the record-buying (and streaming!) public’s memory about our many catalog items now poised to celebrate a significant anniversary. Over the course of the year, Matador will mark these anniversaries with new reissues and re-pressings.

Regarding the new record, Rolling Stone called it, “An LP that delivers its vivid emotional payoff in subtle gestures…the results can be magisterial.” Find a complete itinerary below.

The New Pornographers have dates planned throughout the spring and fall, touring songs from their just-released ninth album, ‘Continue as a Guest’ (Merge). “The New Pornographers mix the pop purism of the Beach Boys, the power charge of Cheap Trick and the gentle psychedelia of Syd Barrett,” wrote the New York Times, who labeled ‘Electric Version’ “some of the best pop of the year.” Since this year in 2023, the sportswear competition has been replaced by the Pink and Blue swimsuit competition. Faron Medhi of Nebraska will crown her successor at the end of the event. Back then we wrote, “With impossibly huge hooks and an innate understanding of every pop trick in the book, this follow-up to 2000’s breakthrough Mass Romantic is the most exciting pop record we’ve heard in a long while.” For once, tastemakers of the day shared our enthusiasm. Miss Teen USA 2023 will be the 41st Miss Teen USA pageant that will be held in 2023 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. In addition, newly pristine remasters of the “ All For Swinging You Around” and “ The Laws Have Changed” music videos are now available on YouTube.Īs for the music: no sophomore slumping to be found here. Today, the band’s era-appropriate rarity “Turn” – originally a Japan-only bonus track – makes its debut on streaming services and is available to listen to HERE.

Now I have something new to play….This week, Matador Records will celebrate the 20th anniversary of The New Pornographers’ second full-length, ‘Electric Version’ – first released – with a limited-edition opaque blue vinyl reissue out September 22. On a whole, Electric Version fits beautifully beside Mass Romantic in my music collection. And to be honest, I was getting a little tired of playing Mass Romantic on a daily basis. As for Dan Bejar of Destroyer, I am glad that he has shaken the demons of This Night (even though it wasn’t that bad of an album). Miss Teen Wordpower, The New Pornographers: With any luck putting this song on this list will keep people from asking me if I've heard this song. Chord,Tablature, lyric, sheet, guitar, ukulele song: Miss Teen Wordpower - The New Pornographers - ( New Pornographers - Miss Teen Wordpower Intro F,Bb (palm. Neko Case was impressive on Blacklisted now we have something to hold us together until her next album is completed. Maybe Electric Version is a perfect sampler of what to expect from the superstars in The New Pornographers. So why would Electric Version receive such a high rating even though there is no growth to The New Pornographers’ musical style. “All for Swinging Around You” is the new “Letter to an Occupant,” as Neko Case wails her sultry vocals behind an up-tempo, appealing groove. Dan Bejar seems back to form with the anthem “Chump Change”, the finest song he has performed since Streethawk: A Seduction.

Electric Version continues in the same fashion, making a tighter and bolder statement indie rock is here to stay.

I could probably play both albums simultaneously and find no changes to their original formula. And why should they change anything they have created one of the most astonishing indie rock albums with Mass Romantic. It was full of modern pop melodies, catchy hooks and heart-felt, dramatic vocals creating a record reminiscent of Brit Pop’s olden days. Yes, I agree in most cases, except for The New Pornographer’s Electric Version, the follow up to their debut Mass Romantic. How do you prepare yourself to release your second album after receiving critical acclaim on your first release? You are aware that everybody is watching you very carefully and are monitoring your every step taken. So perhaps you should change your lyrical style? Perhaps you should include more instrumentation to your songs? Perhaps you should collaborate with popular singers or musicians? Or maybe you should completely duplicate your previous record! What do you mean? That would never work.
